Spiral Flute Taps
Spiral tap (SP) is one of the most popular products on the market. It is mainly used for blind hole machining, and the chips are discharged upwards (in the opposite direction to the advance of the tap). According to different working conditions use different helix angles, and the common ones are right-handed 15° and 42°. Generally speaking, the larger the helix angle, the better the chip removal performance.
Spiral flute taps have following features:
1) Most suitable for processing blind holes.
2) The tap is easy to cut into the material, and the cutting force is good.
3) Because the groove is helical and the strength of the tool tip is small, it is not suitable for machining hard materials. (Approx. to 45HRC)
