Carbide Taps
Solid carbide taps have better strength, longer life, stable performance, faster speed and higher processing efficiency. The tool life in some non-ferrous metals reaches tens of thousands of holes. Its standard specifications are M3-M12, but CRONAMETAL can manufacture carbide taps range from M0.8 to M30.
Advantages of carbide taps:
a. Just as carbide inserts have gradually replaced high-speed steel turning tools in turning, carbide taps have also begun to be used more for thread tapping.
b. Compared with high-speed steel, solid carbide taps has higher hardness, higher efficiency, more wear resistance and longer life.
c. Carbide taps for processing cast iron and aluminum alloy materials performance is good, the main reason of tap damage is mechanical wear.
d. A large number of cast iron and aluminum alloy parts are used in the automotive industry, so carbide taps are used for better tool life; carbide taps have longer life than HSS taps when machining above workpieces.
e. In the production of auto parts, the long life of carbide taps results in less time for tool changes.
f. Coated small helix angle carbide taps work well on aluminum alloy with a silicon content of 8%-12%.
g. Taps produced from ultra-fine-grain carbide rod can increase the toughness of the tool without reducing its hardness, so it is very effective in cutting hardened steel, plastics and difficult-to-machine nickel-based alloys.
